2020 Northwoods Open Driven by Innova Discs

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

To protect the health and safety of all our guests and competitors, the 2020 Northwoods Open has a format and procedure change. Please read and share ALL of the following information to help things run as smoothly as possible. With everyone’s cooperation, we are confident it will be a weekend full of amazing golf on this beautiful property, which we are blessed to share with all of you for the 26th year of this event.

WE HOPE YOU ARE WELL …
Please do not come to the Northwoods Open if you have Covid-19 symptoms (cough, fever, loss of taste/smell); If you have been exposed to someone who has tested + for Covid-19; If you are awaiting test results for Covid-19; If you have been to a bar or large social gathering in the last 14 days where social distancing and masks were not observed.

The Biggest Change
Tee Times will be used on Saturday AND Sunday starting at 7:30 am and going every 8 minutes until approx. 3:30 pm.  The tentative plan is for Recreational Men and Women players to tee-off first, then Intermediate Men and Women, then Am 65+, Am 60+, Am 50+, Am 40+, then Advanced and then Pro 60+, Pro 50+, Pro 40+ followed by Open, and finally Open Women will be last to tee off.

Any registered players who wish to cancel, must do so by Friday, August 29, 2020 at 6:00pm CDT to receive entry fee refund (minus a $10 cancellation/processing fee). If something comes up causing your need to cancel after this deadline, kindly let us know asap; however, THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS AFTER THIS DEADLINE.

Tee Times will be posted at PDGA.com on Monday, August 31, 2020 no later than 5:00pm CDT.

 

SCHEDULE:
Friday, September 4, 2020
• Check your Saturday tee-time assignment at https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/43885
• Player check-in (sign waiver and player-pack pick-up: 10:00am – 7:00pm. Sandy Point Pro Shop and Pro Shop Garage.
• Friday practice round: $5 green fee. No more than 4 per group. Stay 6 FT apart.
• Pro shop: masks required. Five people max at one time.
• If you cannot check-in on Friday, you may do so at the Pro Shop 15 minutes before your Saturday tee-time.

Saturday, September 5, 2020
• Double-check your tee-time assignment at https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/43885
• No Spectators or caddies this year – NO exceptions
• With respect for social distancing, a modified 27-hole “Covid Classic Course” will be used both days. Players on the course are REQUIRED to stay 6-feet apart at all times. Masks will be in player packs for ALL players. They are not required on the course while you are throwing, but we highly recommend that you wear a mask at every opportunity. This year’s course is designed to curtail back-ups; however, should they occur, do not congregate and please wear your masks.

  • Please carry hand sanitizer in your bag and use it as often as you can. There are spray bottles of hand sanitizer on Holes #1 and #13.
  • No touching other player’s discs or equipment.
  • No high fives or player-to-player contact
  • There will be no water jugs on the course so be sure you bring your own!
  • The course is CLOSED to practice play from 7:30am through the entire day. The putting island is open but you must be aware of competitors on Holes #1 and #25. Any non-putting warm up throws must take place off-property.
  • To limit traffic on Sandy Point Lane, LATER TEE TIMES, from 11:00am, please park on North Squaw Lake Lane (in designated areas) and walk into the Resort. Observe all speed limits and be mindful of the traffic/competition around you.

15 minutes before your tee time:
• Check-in at Hole #1 no less than 10 minutes and no more than 15 minutes before your tee time posted at pdga.com. If you haven’t yet signed the waiver/received your player package, you may do so at the pro shop prior to checking-in at Hole #1. DO NOT DISTURB GOLFERS ON TEE #1.
• At your designated start-time you will begin on Hole #1 and play straight-through, holes #1 – #27. All members of your group will be on one scorecard. First person on the card, takes it.


The Covid Classic Course:
• A “Caddy Book” will be available one week prior to the event. It will be online and each group will receive one at the first tee. It will present the rules of each hole, including hazards and OB areas.
• The two-meter rule will not be in use. Mark your lie directly below any disc caught in a tree without penalty.

• Divisions: MP50, MP60, MA2, MA3, FA2, FA3, MA40, MA50, MA60, MA65
—Use the short tee pads on Holes 6, 8, 14 & 15

• Divisions: MPO, FPO, MP40, MA1
—Use 6-short, 8-long, 14-long and 15-long tee-pads

 

After Your Round:
• Your round ends at the famous Hole #27 lake hole.
• All players are required to double and triple check your scorecard and TOTAL. You are responsible for your score. Par is 81 on this course.
• First person on the scorecard is responsible for turning it in at the WI Disc Golf Hall of Fame. If a person is not there to collect, put it in the designated box.
• Sadly, there will be no off-the-raft, no glow doubles and no raffle this year.
• PLEASE let Mike know if you do not intend to show up on Sunday (for whatever reason) so we can modify groups as necessary prior to setting and posting tee times for Sunday. If you don’t see him in person, text him at 520-360-7628.
• Sunday tee times will be posted by 9:00pm CDT

10 minutes before your tee time:
• Check-in at Hole #1 no less than 10 minutes and no more than 15 minutes before your tee time.
• At your designated start-time you will begin on Hole #1 and play straight-through, holes #1 – #27 on the SAME course as Saturday, The Covid Classic Course.

After Your Round/Division Conclusions:
Results and payout will be posted at https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/43885 and on our website sandypt.com and on the 2020 Northwoods Open – Covid Edition Facebook page.

Prize winners:
•Amateur Divisions: Paper Vouchers, trophies and Black discs will be distributed soon after each Amateur division is finished on Sunday at the Hall of Fame. Players may wait on the property for their vouchers BUT are required to stay 6-feet apart AT ALL TIMES and wear a mask. Vouchers may be redeemed in the pro shop upon receipt OR you may redeem them in-person during shop hours or online at sandypointproshop.com up to one-year from tournament date. (September 5, 2021). NOTE: Shipping charges will apply for any online redemptions.

• Pro Divisions: Pros will be paid electronically ONLY within 48 hours after the end of the tournament. Please provide your Venmo, Paypal, Googlepay, FBPay method of preferred payment app. Message Mike @ 520-360-7628 with your choice. Trophies and Black discs will be distributed at the Hall of Fame.
