About

Mike and Michele Cozzens are your hosts at Sandy Point Resort and Disc Golf Ranch.

Both originally from the Midwest, Mike and Michele moved to the Northwoods from Northern California in 1993 and have since devoted their lives to upgrading every aspect of the resort.

A former stock broker and a journalist, they were married in 1989, and decided to buy a resort to live where the air is clean and their children would experience a fun-filled and special childhood. (Willow and Camille did indeed, have glorious childhoods at Sandy Point). Together they’ve created an outstanding, family-owned and operated facility and what the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce has called “one of the finest family-owned and operated resorts in the Northwoods.”

Willow and Camille live in Colorado with their dogs Ravioli and Jelly. Both are avid Frisbee players and disc golfers. Willow has a B.S. in kinesiology and history from UW-Madison and earned her Masters degree in Sustainable Food Systems from UC Boulder. She is the Equity and Food Policy Analyst for Jefferson Co. Dept. of Public Health, the Water and Equity Project Coordinator for the National Young Farmers Coalition and Frontline Farming, and the Development and Outreach Coordinator for the Mile High Farmers Union.  Camille earned her Degree in Arts, Media and Entertainment from the University of Arizona. She is a licensed esthetician and the art director and merchandise manager for SPRDGR. Camille’s primary job is front of house at Culinary Dropout. She also manages administrative duties and group events.  Should you ever have the pleasure of meeting either of the Cozzens girls, don’t hesitate to ask them about growing up in the disc golf community and Sandy Point Resort. They continue to be delighted to meet members of the disc golf family from all over the world.

Testimonials

In addition to designing and building two log homes in 1994, Stickeen and Aerie, in 1995 the Cozzens seized the opportunity to purchase Lakeview Lodge just after Willow was born. Mike designed The Marq and then worked on the crew, finishing it in 1998. In 2001, they replaced the Recreation Cabin, as well as two of the last three original cabins, Hilltop and The Big House, with spectacular cabins.

Michele is responsible for the decorating and has given each cabin an individual Northwoods/Southwest flavor. She has an extensive quilt collection and has pieced together each room like a work of art.

Together, and with input from the wonderful Wisconsin Disc Golf Community, they are the proud creators of one of Wisconsin’s most popular disc golf destinations. Play this unique and beautiful course, and it won’t take long to understand why so many have dubbed Sandy Point “DISC GOLF HEAVEN!”

Mike and Michele are both members of the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA), and have run numerous tournaments and participated in various Frisbee events throughout the country. They are both members of the Wisconsin Disc Golf Hall of Fame. Mike and Michele make golf discs available to all guests and are happy to give lessons and demonstrations whenever they can. Don’t be afraid to ask, they’re happy to share their long history and vast knowledge of the sport.

Now in their 29th year of operation, Mike and Michele are constantly upgrading and improving the resort. “We LOVE Sandy Point and are delighted to share this little piece of paradise with you. Please come see us and become a part of our Sandy Point family! Call today to reserve your cabin.”
